You’ve probably noticed that, here at Bōwst, we get excited about a lot of things. What can we say? We’re an excitable bunch.
There are things that we absolutely do NOT get excited about, however. Some of those things are related to commuting to work, and they include:
-
Global warming
-
Spending our hard earned cash on gasoline
-
Getting stuck in traffic
-
Trying to find parking
None of those things are exciting. In fact, we would submit that they are the complete opposite of all that is awesome.
Because of that, we are participating in commuteSmart Seacoast’s Commuter B2B Challenge. We think that it only makes sense to consider how we get to work so that we can try to minimize the less than amazing aspects of commuting; this is especially true in the summer, when the warm weather opens up additional commuting options such as biking or walking for those of us who live closely enough.
Here’s what we’ve discovered so far:
- Biking to work can be fun, and means that you can skip the gym! (make sure you wear a helmet)
-
The beauty of telecommuting = working in jammies
-
Carpooling means you can have a buddy to sing along to the radio with
-
Riding the bus gives you the chance to meet new and interesting people
Will we discover more wonderful things during our commuter challenge? We’re sure we will — including who can carry a tune and who can’t — but in the meantime, you don’t have to be in a formal commuter challenge to think about how you can make your daily commute less impactful on the environment! Seize the day — or the wheel, as it is — and team up with a coworker, or lace up your sneakers, and find a greener way to get to work.
